Bio
Evelina Kollberg (b.1990) is a Stockholm based artist. She recently received her BFA from Konstfack (University College of Art, Craft and Design) in 2016 and was awarded The Public Attraction grant at Konstfack spring exhibition. Kollberg discovered the method of crochet when she studied in Paris in 2014 as a Erasmus scholarship holder. She was nominated as one of the scholarship holder Ung Svensk Form 2017 (The Swedish Society of Crafts and Design) with her interactive sculptor Människofällan (The human trap). Her work has been recognized in Sweden as well as Asia (Taiwan, Hong Kong and India). Evelina Kollberg's art expresses an even weight between pleasure and discomfort. She desires to control the darker aspects of human existence by indicate small glimpses of hope. The work is psychological, raw, and seductive and invites to participate. Each work has a bodily identity and the human presence expands from intimate to monumental. Evelina Kollberg works with an art form that takes time. In the objects, through crochet, time is hidden in the loops. The objects become tactile and magnetic through countless repetition and variations.
