Promised land is an interactive audio and textile installation. Five crochet chairs, similar to the electric chair, stand in a circle facing each other. The visitor is invited to sit in the chair and tie oneself´s arms and legs with leather belts and place a helmet over the head. The visitor can hear the helmet asks a number of intimate questions such as "Are you the best version of yourself?" "Do you deserve better?" "Can you find a better partner?" - Questions only the person in the chair can answer.
Promised land reflects the problematic aspect of self-realization. Through social media we get to know how happiness and success looks like from different perspectives of life. Like daily electronic shocks, we are illuminated through a mobile filter what we do not have and what we think is desirable. In interaction with the crochet electric chair, we are visually tangibly strapped, caught in the social structure and the questions we are subconsciously fed with on a daily basis are visualized by concrete questions we have to answer.
